The Northeast region has 742 species of bryophytes, being considered the third largest region in terms of number of species. For the State of Piauí, 50 species, 22 families, and 29 genera are recorded. Due to the scarcity of studies on the Piauí's bryoflora, a floristic inventory of bryophyte species was carried out in the municipality of Corrente, Piauí, Brazil. Fifty species distributed in 25 genera and 18 families were identified. The list includes 11 new occurrences for the State of Piauí, being a new record for the Northeast region. Regarding distribution in Brazil, 24 (51.06%) of the taxa have a wide distribution, 11 (23.40%) have a moderate distribution, and 12 (25.53%) have a restricted distribution. The results represent an important contribution to the knowledge of the region's bryophytic flora, as it expanded and updated data regarding the geographic distribution of several species.
