About the Conference Proceedings Series

Focus and scope

Paubrasilia (eISSN 2595-6752) is an official journal of the FLORAS Botanical Garden and accepts original scientific papers in all areas of botany, as well as in related areas, as long as they have botanical aspects. Examples of thematic areas that fit into the scope of the journal are: botanical collections and archives, plant biogeography, plant reproductive biology, plant biotechnology, economic botany, structural botany, plant conservation, scientific dissemination in botany, plant ecology, environmental education focused on botany, teaching of botany, ethnobotany, phycology, plant physiology, botanical gardens, mycology, palynology, paleobotany, and plant systematics. Additionally, the editorial board can accept notes, records, checklists, bibliographic reviews, and reports related to the journal's scope.

Periodicity

The journal is edited by FLORAS Botanical Garden at the Federal University of Southern Bahia and has adopted, since 2021, the Continuous Article Publishing (CAP) system. This helps speed up the publication process, because newly-accepted articles are continuously added to each annual volume, after peer review.

Editorial process

Every manuscript submitted to the journal is directed to an editor who decides if the work falls within the journal's scope. If so, it is forwarded to at least two recognized experts in the field, preferably from external institutions, so that they can give their opinions. If the opinions differ, the editor may submit the work to a third reviewer. If the manuscript deviates from the journal's focus or disregards the submission guidelines, it is rejected before peer review.

The peer review process follows a system of blind anonymity (single blind review). Based on the opinions obtained, the editor responsible will decide whether the manuscript should be accepted for publication, accepted with corrections (minor, moderate or major) or rejected.

Ethical commitment

Paubrasilia does not permit any scientific misconduct in its submitted papers. Cases of plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification of data, as well as any other fraud will summarily lead to the rejection of the originals submitted for consideration. The journal uses software to track plagiarism.

The journal follows international recommendations to ensure ethics and integrity in the scientific research and publishing process, such as the principles proposed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for issues such as authorship, conflict of interest, misconduct, intellectual property, and peer review.

The authors are responsible for meeting and proving, when required, any legal or similar obligations or recommendations implied by the carrying out of the research, such as investigations with humans and other animals, access to genetic heritage, and associated traditional knowledge, copyright, etc.

As per the Guidelines for Authors section, when submitting a manuscript for publication, authors must declare information regarding funding, authorship contributions, conflict of interest, data availability, and ethical compliance.

Open access policy

Paubrasilia offers immediate free access to its content, as a way to freely democratize the world's scientific knowledge to all of society.
