Rubiaceae from a transitional zone between Carnaúba Carnaúba-palm riverine vegetation and Caatinga s.s., Ceará State, Brazil

The present study aimed to conduct a taxonomic survey of Rubiaceae representatives at the Experimental Farm of the Ceará State University at Vale do Acaraú (FAEX-UVA), in Massapê, Ceará, Brazil. Through field observations and analysis of herbarium materials, 10 species were recorded: Borreria brownii (Rusby) Standl, B. scabiosoides Cham. & Schltdl, B. spinosa Cham. & Schltdl, Hexasepalum apiculatum (Willd.) Delprete & J.H.Kirkbr., Machaonia acuminata Bonpl., Oldenlandia corymbosa L., Pentodon pentandrus (Schumach. & Thonn.) Vatke, Oesterr., Randia armata (Sw.) DC., Richardia scabra L., and Tocoyena formosa (Cham. & Schtdl.) K. Schum. This paper provides an identification key, descriptions, photographs, and data on geographic distribution and habitat.
