Abstract

Convolvulaceae comprises ca. 60 genera and 1.880 species, and it is distributed in different environments in tropical and subtropical regions, with few species in the temperate zones. This study aimed to present the taxonomic diversity of Convolvulaceae occurring in the “Estação Ecológica do Jardim Botânico de Brasília” (EEJBB), a Cerrado area with high species diversity, thus expanding the family's knowledge. The study was based on specimens analysis deposited in herbaria collections: CEN, HEPH, IBGE and UB. In the EEJBB, we recorded 28 species of Convolvulaceae, distributed in six genera: Cuscuta (1 species), Distimake (6 spp.), Evolvulus (3 spp.), Ipomoea (12 spp.), Jacquemontia (5 spp.) and Turbina (1 sp.). Our results expand the species list for the family in the area and a new occurrence of Cuscuta for the Federal District, and reinforce the importance of EEJBB as a prominent urban conservation area for the Convolvulaceae and the flora of cerrado.
